While I was teaching my workshop about IM, I mentioned that one of the drawbacks of IM is that patrons need to install a small program if they don’t already have it. With web-based chat aggregators like Meebo, there is no software involved, but the patron still needs to sign up for a user name, which can be a time consuming and confusing affair. With the Meebo Me! Widget, the patron doesn’t need a user name, and can be completely anonymous since it automatically connects you as meeboguest1234678 or something like it. So today I set up a widget for the Cass District Library. Here is a screenshot.
